The Choice Group

Rachel McGregor began working with R onique during her time in Project SEARCH in 2016. Ronique has been successfully employed at a local hospital in Norfolk since January of 2017. After completing her internship with her current employer through Project SEARCH they decided to hire her!   Ronique works in Environmental Services  at the hospital and does a wonderful job . Her attention to detail and time management skills have helped her  succeed in  her position. Ronique always follows her schedule when cleaning her areas and the departments have said that they can use Ronique as a time reference. They know  the exact time  because she is always right on time each day!   Ronique did not need a lot of support because she picks up tasks so quickly and understands the expectations. The Choice Group works together with students, their families, schools, the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, and Community Service Boards to provide services to support a successful and timely transition from school to work. In this photo, Vocational Counselors with The Choice Group (from left to right: Laura, Becky, and Ian) are attending a local high school transition fair in Woodstock, VA to speak with students, parents, and teachers about our services, such as benefits counseling and job coaching with assessments and supported employment.  We enjoy sharing information with the families and recognize the importance of having access to information and resources early so students can begin preparing for bright futures!

Our very own Ericka Neville from The Choice Group- Hampton Roads is giving the commencement for the most recent graduates from the Project SEARCH internship program at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Project SEARCH is a nation-wide program that enables Career Development post-grads to intern in various work environments. Locally it is operated as a joint effort between the Norfolk Public Schools’ Department of Learning Support and Special Education Services and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The ultimate goal is to help those student find future employment opportunities.
